6th form Study Centre

Sixth Form study is academically demanding so we are delighted to be able to provide our students with all the resources they need to support their learning in a distinctively more mature environment. Our dedicated Sixth Form Centre is the primary resource and centre of activity for Years 12 and 13.  It provides an exclusive study, meeting and social space together with a well-resourced Higher Education library where students can spend time researching and planning their next steps and a teaching/seminar room for smaller group work.  The silent study room is well equipped with ICT and students are encouraged to conduct themselves with increased independence, with the expectation to manage their own time and study opportunities effectively, whilst simultaneously benefitting from small cohorts and ongoing support.  Students also benefit from the use of their own café providing refreshments and freshly cooked meals and snacks from morning break through to lunch. Students also have exclusive use of the Centre’s Sports Hall during break and lunchtimes and they are encouraged to make full use of the excellent facility. In addition to the spaces available in the Sixth Form centre there are other work areas set aside exclusively for Sixth Form study in the main school, currently room 65 and the A Level Art work area.

The study centre also houses the Sixth Form staff team, Mr S Ling, Head of Sixth Form, Mrs A Gilmore Deputy Head of Sixth Form and Mrs H Privett, the Sixth Form Coordinator.

Exclusively available to every Sixth Form student is the professional services of our very own Sixth Form counsellor Mrs A Woods, she is available to support students with weekly face to face appointments, appointments take place away from the Sixth Form Centre, in the counselling office in the main school. Anyone wishing to see Mrs Woods should contact the Sixth Form team so an appointment can be arranged.
