Course Overview

Sociology examines society, human interactions, and the structures that shape our daily lives. This course explores the ways in which individuals are influenced by social forces, such as family, education, and media, and how these forces affect behaviour and opportunities.

 What will I learn?

You will study key sociological theories and research methods, focusing on topics like crime and deviance, social stratification, and gender inequality. The course also encourages critical thinking and analysis of contemporary social issues.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is through three written exams, which test your ability to apply sociological theories to real-world situations and analyse social structures and institutions.

Progression

Sociology provides a strong foundation for careers in social work, education, criminal justice, and public policy. It also complements further study in fields like anthropology, law, and human geography.
