Why study ECDL?

The ECDL certification is a highly recognised qualification which offers students a key recognition of their literacy in computer skills. It is suitable for students of a range of abilities and will lead them to a high computer literacy standard that will support progression onto a range of higher qualifications as well as into employment and apprenticeship.

 

What will I learn?

You will improve your skills in using software including word processors, spreadsheets, presentation software such as Powerpoint and learn about effectively using software in the workplace to speed up and improve productivity.

 

What are the entry requirements?

There is no specific entry requirements for this course.

 

How will I be assessed?

3 x 45 min exams and 1 x 60 min exam covering the 4 areas of Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentations and Improving Productivity in the workplace, thinking through how you would use software in real life situations.

 

Why should I study the ECDL?

The National Careers Service says the following about ECDL:

 

"The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is a Europe-wide qualification in basic computer skills. If you have passed ECDL, employers know you have the skills to carry out the main tasks on a computer. The ECDL is the first qualification in personal computing skills to be recognised throughout the European Union. And it looks great on your CV!"
