Course Overview

Accounting is essential to any career in business, providing the skills and understanding to manage financial data, evaluate business performance, and make informed decisions. This A Level covers both Financial and Management Accounting, offering a solid foundation in quantitative analysis, ethical practices, and financial communication.

What will I learn?

You will gain insight into key accounting principles and techniques, learning how to interpret financial data, solve complex problems, and present your findings effectively. The course explores both the responsibilities of accountants and their impact on business and the broader economy.

Assessment

The course is assessed through two three-hour exams, each comprising multiple-choice questions, structured questions, and extended response questions. These exams test your understanding of accounting theory and your ability to apply it to real-world situations.

Progression

An A Level in Accounting opens doors to a range of careers and further studies in business, finance, and accountancy. It also offers exemptions from certain professional accounting exams, providing a head start in pursuing qualifications such as chartered accountancy.

What are the enrichment opportunities?

Our aim is to provide opportunities for you to see how the theory from the course can be applied in the real world. As part of this course we take students to see businesses in action, in the past we have been to the Longleat Estate and Numatic Ltd, where Henry Hover is manufactured. This year in the planning stages for 2024/2025 are other local and international trips.
