With great results - in the top 30% of schools nationally and judged by Sutton Trust as the third best school in the country for getting students to Oxbridge - Sturminster Sixth Form provides an attractive offer for students looking at their post-16 options. Add to this some excellent teaching - rated 'outstanding' by Challenge Partners' (2016) - and small class sizes and the prospect becomes more attractive still.

Sturminster Newton Sixth Form offers an unusual combination.  As a small school, class sizes are at independent school proportions and this means that teachers know students and are able to support, challenge and encourage them. A strong pastoral and careers programme means that guidance for the future is of high quality, whether it be university, apprenticeship or the workplace.  All last year’s students gained their first choice university place. With a wide range of courses tailored to suit different interests, talents and abilities and a wide range of extracurricular programmes such as Ten Tors, choir and Samba, ski trip, Careers and Apprenticeship show, university visits, theatre trips, EPQ research trip in partnership with Southampton University. Sturminster Sixth Form offers a unique, supportive and individual experience to set you up for the future.

The Sixth Form also benefits from a partnership with Shaftesbury Sixth Form further increasing the number of courses on offer and affording an even wider range of opportunities and facilities for students, with free transport between the two sites.

Sturminster students enjoy a separate Sixth Form Study Centre opened in 2017, with study and ICT facilities, a UCAS library, cafe, social area and sports hall. As well studying hard to achieve the grades, a social life and personal development is a big part of the Sixth Form experience and preparing students for university and work. With a number of social events and activities and a packed tutor programme, Sturminster students both work hard and enjoy their leisure time.

So if small class sizes, tailored careers guidance, extra curricula opportunities and the support of staff who know you appeals, visit Sturminster Sixth Form Open Evening on Thursday 15th November 2018.
