A Level Result Day


 

Staff and students at Sturminster Newton High School were delighted with A level results achieved this summer.

While the overall pass rate is 98%, a record number of students have achieved the benchmark of 3 A level qualifications at A*-C grade an increase on last year with 10% of the grades at A*. Initial feedback suggests that all of our students have been accepted by their first choice university.

Of particular note were results in Accountancy (100% A*-B), Chemistry (100% A*-B), Further Maths (100% A*-C), Health and Social Care (100% A*-C), Art (100% A*-C), Photography (100% A*-C), Extended Project (100% A*-C),  Maths (86% A*-C) and Philosophy and Ethics (80% A*-C). 

Students who achieved particularly well were: Jess Green 3As B and is moving to study Maths at the university of York, Rose Paulton achieved 2A*s A and is moving to study English Literature at the university of Exeter, Max Netley achieved 2A*s A and is moving to study Accounting and Finance at the university of Leeds, Annie Talbot achieved 2A*s A and is moving to study Discreet Maths at the university of Warwick, Kate Fox achieved 2A*s A and is moving to study Zoology at the university of Exeter.

Many students achieved their personal best and exceeded their progress targets. Many congratulations to them all for their hard work and dedication over the two years and for achieving so well in the new, more challenging examinations this year. 

As part of the joint sixth form partnership Ruth Wilkins achieved A* in Ethics and Philosophy and Finley McMillan achieved A* in Photography.

As a school we are very proud of the achievements of all of our students and we wish them every happiness and success as they embark on the next stage of their education and career.
