A Level Result Day

Students and staff at Sturminster Newton High School are delighted with the 100% pass rate and the grades achieved in A level results this year. Almost all students achieved grades above or at their personal target level and 35% of grades were at A*/B.

Of particular note were results in Photography 100% A*-C in which as part of our Shaftesbury/Sturminster Newton joint sixth form partnership Jennifer Forward-Hayter, Shaftesbury student, achieved A* grade. All students in Psychology and Art & Design (Photography) achieved the top A*-C grades.

Students who achieved particularly well were: Harriet Case with 2A’s in Biology and Chemistry and B in Maths, she will read Biochemistry at Surrey, Lucien Rhys achieved A*,A and B English Literature, Philosophy and Ethics and Drama is planning to read Philosophy and Theology at Durham. We are very pleased that all students have achieved the grades needed to go to their chosen university.

Year 12 results at AS were extremely good with a number of students, in the much larger cohort, securing A grades across all subjects. In total 26% of results were at the highest grade and 60% were achieved in the top A-C range. This bodes very well for the 2017 A level results.

As a school we are very proud of the achievements of all of our students and we wish them every happiness and success as they embark on the next stage of their education and career.
